You all probably THINK Im in some amazing shape all of the time. The truth is, as much as I LOVE eating healthy, good nutrition can still be OVER CONSUMED. I mean, I LOVE me some food! Growing up an athlete, Ive learned since childhood, to EAT like an athlete. At 20 years old and 90 pounds I would finish soccer practice and finish a Whopper, Fries and Coke and sometimes even an extra cheeseburger, if I was still hungry, NO PROBLEM. Trust me when I say ....this girl can eat like a MAN! The problem is, I dont TRAIN like an athlete, anymore. Those intense days are long gone. Yet I still EAT like one. To be honest, I dont really even LOVE routine exercising. Sure, I will do it- but Im not one of those people that looks forwards to it everyday.
So there lies my STRUGGLE. My PORTION CONTROL is OUT OF CONTROL. Even though now eat healthy (long gone are the Burger King days), I still find myself saying, "Ah! Its sooo GOOD for me, I can eat as MUCH as I want. " Think... "Guacamole".... And so the calories add up...
My second weakness, is my evening glass of wine. Yes- another generally "clean" food that is a complete waste and empty calories. Add that, on top of my over eating, and it only takes a week or so for me to gain 8-10 pounds. With my petite 5'2" frame, it doesnt take much for me to jump up in pant sizes.
THIS is my ongoing battle. I will literally Yo-Yo 5-15 pounds, especially if I add in a vacation I am NOT perfect, and I havent figured out "some secret". But after doing the Reset, I have realized some small adjustments I can make.
Instead of waiting around until Jan 1 to make my "resolution", I am going to make it.... RIGHT NOW. Starting today, I am going to be MINDFUL of my portions. Im going to be more PRESENT while I am eating. Im will not over-order at a restaurant- and then eat it all because its there < Soooo Guilty! I will enjoy my wine in moderation. I will drink 8oz of water before my meal. I will eat off the SMALLER plate, instead of filling up the big one. Each of these I know will add up and help me create NEW habits and better portion control.
So who is with me? What kind of RESOLUTION can you make RIGHT NOW to improve your MIND, FINANCES or LIFESTYLE? Why not go INTO 2014 with a foundation of better habits already in the works
