Baked Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe
This delicious, classic recipe cuts out some of the traditional calories and fat by baking instead of frying.
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves 4 slices Swiss cheese 4 slices cooked ham 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs 1 teaspoon dried parsley 1/8 teaspoon sage 1/8 teaspoon thyme 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder 1/8 teaspoon onion powder Salt Ground black pepper Butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a 7x11 inch baking dish with butter. Pound chicken breasts to 1/4 inch thickness. Season the bread crumbs by adding the parsley, sage, thyme, garlic powder and onion powder. Shake to mix in a baggie or plastic container with lid. Sprinkle each piece of chicken on both sides with salt and pepper. Place 1 cheese slice and 1 ham slice on top of each breast. Roll up each breast, and secure with a toothpick. Place in baking dish, and sprinkle chicken evenly with bread crumbs. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink. The internal temperature should be at least 165 degrees F. Remove toothpicks, and serve.
