Back To School Routine
It has been a fantastic summer with the kids, but now that school is in session it is time for a wake-up call. Its time for me to lace up my sneakers and get back on a workout schedule that caters to my family’s busy life. For me that means getting my workout in first thing in the morning.
Don’t get me wrong I am in no way a morning person. My ideal morning is nice and easy. I get up, let the dog out, and listen to music for about an hour until my body decides it is awake. “Slow and steady” has always been my morning motto. However, with the children in school and with their hectic schedules coming back into the mix I know if I don’t get my workout in first thing in the morning I will sweep it under the rug and never get to it.
This past week I started to tweak my workout times and have begun to get up extra early to knock out my workout. The first few days were rough! I mean, I never imagined I would be up before the sun, so to keep me motivated I have written positive sayings on sticky-notes and tactfully placed them by my alarm, in the bathroom, and right on top of my workout clothes. The sayings are just words of encouragement to be reminded why I am making this a priority and they give me no excuse to not keep moving!
We all know about those euphoric endorphins that race through our bloodstream after a good sweat session, however I must say I never paid much attention to them before now. Before I would spend hours at the gym and leave lethargic and worn out. Now that I’ve been doing 30-45 minute workouts first thing in the morning I don’t feel as wiped out as I ever did before. It is insane how such a small tweak in my workout routine; doing it first thing as opposed to later in the day; has given me so much energy. I seriously feel like superwoman afterward! Ready to conquer my day.
Not only have these early morning workouts given me crazy energy for the ENTIRE day but I love how it sets such a positive and healthy tone to my day. After each morning workout I’ve noticed I have more pep in my step, a smile on my face, and I feel so much more in control of my day. If you want the same energy perks I have had try working out in the morning once in a while. I guarantee you will want to do it more often!
